We at Polonia Ottomanica are pleased to announce an exciting
upcoming conference: "Contact Zones in Turkish-Polish Relations
(1414-2014)" will be held in Warsaw 06-07 June, 2014. This conference,
commemorating 600 years of Polish/Turkish interactions, is being organized by
the Turkish Historical Society (Türk Tarih Kurumu - http://www.ttk.gov.tr) and the Institute
of History at Warsaw University (Instytut Historyczny Uniwersytetu
Warszawskiego - http://www.ihuw.pl). The
main panels will consist of papers on the following subjects:

Six Centuries of Polish-Ottoman Encounters in Istanbul:
Identities, Trajectories and Intellectual Transfers
(13-14 March 2014, Orient-Institut Istanbul)
The German Orient-Institut in Istanbul will be hosting an international and interdisciplinary workshop in conjunction with the “Istanbul Memories” research project focusing on Polish-Ottoman history. Thursday, March 13th four researchers will share their latest works on the intersections between Polish and Ottoman identities, trajectories, and intellectual transfers. On Friday, March 14th join Paulina Dominik for a pleasant walk through historical Polish Istanbul. See the sites of former embassies, religious communities, and the residences of Poles living in the Ottoman Empire.
